Kevin Farmer and I chat about alarming updates about permafrost melting and we finish the show with an interview via our friends at Alternatives Journal with author Giles Slade. Giles’s new book is entitled The Big Disconnect, and we talk to him about it as well as the relationships between environmentalism and social networks.

This Weeks Music! Brought to you by DJ Amber Waves at Open til’ Midnight:

This week, I’m feeling a little all over the place, musically.  No wonder the fusion of trip hop, jazz and a touch of ambient rock of Toronto duo Ambisonic grabbed my ears!

Praised by Strombo, NXNE and The Indie Machine, Paul Barry and Erik Culp employ live looping for an organic feel, blending banjo, piano, synths – everything but the musical kitchen sink.  Great for slipping on while enjoying the warm weather and BBQ, but equally appealing while sipping wine by candlelight and reflecting.

Enjoy two tracks from their forthcoming release, Manitou, Leisure Time and Resolute.  Sample the whole thing at Soundcloud:
