Occasional guest Liz Rice is fresh off the plane from climate camp to talk to us about her experience. But there’s no canoeing and smores at this camp, its 3 straight days of intensive training with former vice president Al Gore and Climate Reality Project CEO Maggie Fox. I ask her whether or not Al Gore’s name is still toxic to the climate movement? How do you convince the entire world to change course when most people don’t even understand or necessarily believe in the problem? Most importantly, where can you go to book a  FREE Climate Reality presentation. (check out the Canadian CRP site here)

Kevin Farmer joins us in the second half of the program by phone to weigh in on climate and a few of this weeks news items. I also spent the last few min talking about some of the drastic and continuing changes around the website, hopefully all for the better.

Some of these we barely touched, but here is a list of the articles or clips we talked about (and maybe one or two we didn’t).

This Weeks Music:  Brought to you by DJ Amber Waves at Open til’ Midnight:

Greetings, Green Majority!

It’s Caribana weekend– no matter how it’s branded these days – which means several wonderful things: beautiful costumes, great food and great music! It’s a weekend for dancing in the streets and sipping delicious drinks, but also one to think of the numerous cultural festivals that make Toronto so special.

To celebrate, a little bit of soul and a little reggae…

“The Little Things” – Delbert And The Commotions

Brian Asselin knew he’d met someone special when he encountered vocalist Delbert Nelson while on tour five years ago – a man with an incredible list of accomplishments who’s shared a stage with the Who’s Who of blues. With his jazz sensibilities in tow, Brian and Delbert teamed up and crafted the album Let Me See Ya Dance, the first release of Delbert and The Commotions. It’s everything Motown yet decidedly modern as well. Track “The Little Things” keeps me in toe-tapping bliss on the TTC – not an easy feat on the Bloor line during rush hour. Check it out, then swing by the band’s site for more.

“It’s All Bless” – Korexion

Years ago, I was working in a bank to pay the bills. One of my favourite guys to chat up in the financial advisor section came in one day with some rather big news: he’d been nominated for a Juno Award. Being a music lover, I was thrilled and rooted for him all the way through his win in 2007.

Being as he’s performing this weekend (of course!), I thought I’d take you all with me on a walk down memory lane, back to when I first heard Korexion sing. Enjoy the positivity of one of my favourites, “It’s All Bless”.

Enjoy your long weekend!
