This week, we start the show with Dale Marshall, National Program Manager from Environmental Defence who is in Lima, Peru for COP20. Dale talks to us about the final week of the conference and implications for the next critical conference in Paris.
In the middle of the show, Journalist Krystyna Henke speaks with Heather Walter and Eric West, who perform environmental songs for youth.
Heather has a degree in Outdoor and Experiential Education from Queen’s University. She is an environmental educator and has coordinated the Whale Research Group at Memorial University. She has also been program director of the Atlantic Centre for the Environment. For the last several years she has been a partner in an Alberta production company. She also is the lead singer in the Heather and Eric duo. Meanwhile, Eric is a classically trained guitarist, a composer and arranger, and a music publisher (Vinland Music). He was a musician-in-residence at Gros Morne National Park and has numerous recordings to his name. He is also the founder of Vinland Music Camp, where participants learn traditional music and dances of Newfoundland and Labrador. Together, Heather and Eric perform across North America in concert halls, at festivals, on radio and on TV. They’ve been nominated for a Governor General’s Award and received the Newfoundland and Labrador Environment Award, as well as the Outdoor Writers of America Award.
